Just a word to tell that I did appreciated Harminder’s help, (as well as Vikram) on Friday night. They took care of our problem with Customs for an In Bond shipment (T&E). Before Harminder left the office, (later than he was supposed to…) he gave me his cell phone number and made sure that the weekend team knew what was going on with my manifest.

I began development in late spring of 2005. For the next six frustrating months, I attempted to bring Gerald Walker Transport on-line with the system - to no avail. There are three significant problems from a user perspective: the software is difficult to use; the on-line response time is v-e-r-y s-l-o-w with data entry and system response so tardy as to make it unusable; and finally, on-line and telephone help totally inadequate. For example, several requests for assistance with specific problems went unheeded by ACE support staff in Washington, DC. In my frustration, I contacted the ACE E-manifest facilitator hired by BCTA; he was of great assistance but not readily available for consultation on an on-going basis. The staff at CBP, Blaine, WA were equally helpful however their role, I was informed, was not as technical problem solvers.
Finally, in frustration, I recommended to our Company in November that we explore the 'service provider option' for ACE E-manifest. After demos and discussions with two Canadian firms, we opted to contract with CrimsonLogic. Problem solved!! They have a 'user-friendly' data entry system available at reasonable cost with a super help desk and staff that have made the transition easy for our Company. We are now fully operational and prepared for the deadline.
I would NOT recommend the US CBP Internet portal to any small or medium size trucking company with limited IT support staff. I would recommend that such companies go directly to third-party service providers given the fast approaching deadline for ACE E-manifest implementation.

I would like to say a big thank-you to everyone involved in getting the issues with my e-manifest transmission problems fixed. Yesterday, some of the staff at Crimson Logic very quickly and effectively identified the problem with my vehicle, and they were able to come up with a successful course of action. Last night, when I arrived that the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel, I handed over my e-manifest, and my fast card to the officer in the commercial lane, within a few seconds of my trip number and fast id entered into CBP system I was told that I could go onto my final destination of FedEx at Metro Airport. It is very comforting for me to know that although I may be out on the road by myself, I do have a very large team of people out there to give me the support that I need to effectively serve our customers. A big thank-you to everyone for all of their help and efficiency on getting this issue resolved.
